Christmas-y Feeling

A windy day in Washington
It's in the air.  After the first Joy to the World bellowed out in church, and the shameless gorging of turkey and potatoes,  there's no turning back.   I hope you had an excellent Thanksgiving, and a relaxing break!
I sure did.
It was a different kind of Thanksgiving for sure.  Good food, great company, but I'm still craving Mom's cooking and missing relatives far away.
The highlight of break was definitely spending a day in Washington, D.C.    My camera went ballistic- look forward to a looooooong post very shortly :)

P.S.  Skype!  I have it.  Still trying to decide whether or not I feel too awkward to use it.
How does it...work?

There's Nothing

Nothing and no one quite like a best friend.  One that is...

Completely loveable

Driven and thoughtful

Fun and spontaneous

Bubbly and sweet

So meaningful

Constantly brightening my day

Living life in a big way

                                                        Understanding and caring

Inspiring me to fight the current

Poised and hardworking

Talented and ambitious

Beautiful and accepting

Greatly loved and admired

My other half

Hilarious, smart and completely cool

Nothing quite like a best friend... except several :)

Ugh?

True statement:  I have YET to meet a girl that isn't wearing a pair of these.   Maybe it's a WV thing?  They need all of that protection to make it through the brush to their home at the top of the hill?
I actually catch people glancing at the back of  other girls' boots to check if they are Ugg brand.  It's ridiculous!  I know  boot tucking is big in Utah as well, but I have never seen SO MANY Uggs in my life!
What do you think?  Should I conform?  Or start a new trend with a pair of these:

Or if you are looking for comfort:

Comments

I somehow disabled comments without realizing...
trying to fix it! Feel free to go back and comment.
Anyone that reads this blog, I would love to hear from you!

Some Mo Exterior

There are some thugs hidings out here in the hills too.
**I figured since I was new I could take a couple artistic liberties ( i.e. one slightly stalkerish picture)

MHS II

With my camera in hand, I ran around school like a crazy person. Be grateful for these pictures! They may have come at the cost of my reputible...reputation. :) I thought of all of my friends and family back at home as I tried to capture a taste of the Mohigans. The "far side", the artsy end of MHS.
Morgantown+Mohican= Mohigan!Teeny tiny lockers. Yep, that's mine AND Kristan's.
An angle at the entrace.

MHS

A look at Morgantown Highschool. Home of the Mohigans, and Paige Montgomery. I snapped some pictures during C lunch break. Yes, we have three lunches!

Last and First

This is something I could have never foreseen: living out of hotels for weeks on end, smack dab in the middle of West Virgina! Looking back a year ago, I wouldn't have guessed just how drastically my life would change in such a short period of time.

My last week in Utah was time to let go. It felt like big pair of sewing scissors was snipping the strings that had been attached to me for so long.
First to go were my responsibilites. I left behind clubs, associations, and positions. I cut ties at school with teams, teachers, and my locker. I left my room, home, and car. Finally, and most difficulty, I said goodbye to my family, friends, and pets.

It has been one of the most foreign, lonely, difficult, monotonous, and life changing weeks ever. My mom has been an amazing example to me as she has pressed on without complaint. Through it all, the strength of my friendships has really been reaffirmed. I have received so many caring messages, letters, and phone calls. Thank you! I know that everything that was truely meaningful will not be left behind or forgotten.

My life from here is a blank slate just waiting to be filled. I am looking forward to redefining my day to day routines, goals, and relationships. The sewing scissors have been tucked away and the thread is lacing back up.

Here

I'm here. "Here" is a relative term, and one that I have yet to define.
Locationally, I am smack in the middle of Morgantown. Truely, it's beautiful. I could make this place the center of every negative thought running through me. But as we wind up and down the narrow, twisting streets, I can't help but be struck by the beauty around me. Here is nothing like there. It feels very rural at times, and very college town at others. It's small-town, and very Eastern. The city settles between endless rolling hills. They call them "mountains". Mountains! WVU think they're "Mountaineers".
Trees, forests, and farmland can be found within a few miles from the center of town, and Autumn has kissed the foliage which blushes a soft red.
Herds of deer graze near the side of the street. Stop and go traffic is rampant, and we continue to glide up and down the hills.
